header_2_font_size=\u00bb30px\u00bb header_2_line_height=\u00bb1.2em\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Regulaci\u00f3n de la viabilidad y la funci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas \u03b2 y \u03b1 pancre\u00e1ticas por los receptores de estr\u00f3genos ER\u03b2 y GPER: papel en la terapia de la diabetes mellitus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El 17\u03b2-estradiol (E2) es una hormona sexual producida por la c\u00e9lula de las granulosas en el ovario, que est\u00e1 tradicionalmente implicada en la diferenciaci\u00f3n sexual, la pubertad y la reproducci\u00f3n. En las dos \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas el impacto del E2 ha trascendido a muchas otras funciones fisiol\u00f3gicas, entre ellas, la homeostasis de la glucosa, incluyendo sus efectos en las c\u00e9lulas \u03b2 y \u03b1 del p\u00e1ncreas endocrino. El E2regula el contenido de insulina y su secreci\u00f3n en respuesta a la glucosa, y produce elefecto contrario en el caso de la c\u00e9lula-\u03b1 y la secreci\u00f3n de glucag\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n protege a la c\u00e9lula-\u03b2 de la muerte celular en respuesta a est\u00edmulos apopt\u00f3ticos y no se sabe si hace lo mismo en la c\u00e9lula-\u03b1. El papel del receptor de estr\u00f3genos ER\u03b1 en la funci\u00f3n y la supervivencia de la c\u00e9lula-\u03b2 est\u00e1 relativamente bien estudiado. No ocurre igual con los otros dos receptores de estr\u00f3genos, ER\u03b2 y GPER. La disecci\u00f3n de los mecanismos de acci\u00f3n del E2 a trav\u00e9s de los receptores de estr\u00f3genos ER\u03b2 y GPER en el p\u00e1ncreas endocrino que proponemos en este proyecto, nos ayudaran a conocer mejor las diferencias de sexo en la homeostasis de la glucosa. Posteriormente, fue investigadora postdoctoral en el Departamento de Nutrici\u00f3n del Instituto Karolinska, Estocolmo (Suecia) etapa en la que se centr\u00f3 en el estudio de la fisiolog\u00eda del receptor de estr\u00f3genos ER\u00df; Asimismo, fue investigadora visitante en el Centro de Receptores Nucleares y Se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n Celular en la Universidad de Houston (Estados Unidos). En la actualidad es profesora titular de Nutrici\u00f3n y Bromatolog\u00eda en la Universidad Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez e investigadora principal en IDiBE. Su investigaci\u00f3n se centra en comprender el papel de los disruptores endocrinos en la etiolog\u00eda de la diabetes, la obesidad y los des\u00f3rdenes metab\u00f3licos asociados. Su trabajo ha sido decisivo para establecer la relaci\u00f3n entre la exposici\u00f3n a ciertos disruptores endocrinos como el bisfenol y el origen de la diabetes tipo 2. Adem\u00e1s, su actividad cient\u00edfica se centra en el estudio de la fisiolog\u00eda y las adaptaciones metab\u00f3licas de las c\u00e9lulas alfa y beta del p\u00e1ncreas durante el embarazo; con especial inter\u00e9s en comprender las bases moleculares de la diabetes mellitus gestacional y en identificar las v\u00edas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n alteradas que conducen al desarrollo de esta enfermedad. Sus estudios se han centrado en comprender las alteraciones, adaptaciones y\/o fallos de las c\u00e9lulas alfa y beta del p\u00e1ncreas en condiciones fisiol\u00f3gicas como el embarazo y el envejecimiento, as\u00ed como en condiciones patol\u00f3gicas como la obesidad y la diabetes. Su investigaci\u00f3n en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os ha contribuido principalmente a una mejor comprensi\u00f3n de la biolog\u00eda de las c\u00e9lulas alfa pancre\u00e1ticas en la salud y la enfermedad, y su contribuci\u00f3n a la diabetes. style=\"text-align: justify;\">El 17\u03b2-estradiol (E2) es una hormona sexual producida por la c\u00e9lula de las granulosas en el ovario, que est\u00e1 tradicionalmente implicada en la diferenciaci\u00f3n sexual, la pubertad y la reproducci\u00f3n. En las dos \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas el impacto del E2 ha trascendido a muchas otras funciones fisiol\u00f3gicas, entre ellas, la homeostasis de la glucosa, incluyendo sus efectos en las c\u00e9lulas \u03b2 y \u03b1 del p\u00e1ncreas endocrino. El E2regula el contenido de insulina y su secreci\u00f3n en respuesta a la glucosa, y produce elefecto contrario en el caso de la c\u00e9lula-\u03b1 y la secreci\u00f3n de glucag\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n protege a la c\u00e9lula-\u03b2 de la muerte celular en respuesta a est\u00edmulos apopt\u00f3ticos y no se sabe si hace lo mismo en la c\u00e9lula-\u03b1. El papel del receptor de estr\u00f3genos ER\u03b1 en la funci\u00f3n y la supervivencia de la c\u00e9lula-\u03b2 est\u00e1 relativamente bien estudiado. No ocurre igual con los otros dos receptores de estr\u00f3genos, ER\u03b2 y GPER. La disecci\u00f3n de los mecanismos de acci\u00f3n del E2 a trav\u00e9s de los receptores de estr\u00f3genos ER\u03b2 y GPER en el p\u00e1ncreas endocrino que proponemos en este proyecto, nos ayudaran a conocer mejor las diferencias de sexo en la homeostasis de la glucosa.
